Eran Feitelson is a professor of Geography at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an acknowledged world expert in the field of water management. While in Dublin recently to address a private meeting of the Irish Friends of the Hebrew University, Michael FitzGerald caught up with him, and in a comprehensive lecture, he outlines the limited sources of water in one of the most arid regions in the world and the challenges that presents.

He is introduced to the gathering by Dr. David Abrahamson, from the Irish Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Eran Feitelson in the second part of his address, explains why the most efficient and effective approach to water management between Israel and a future Palestinian homeland, is by treating it as a shared and managed resource. He illustrates his address by demonstrating why SECURITY is a WATER issue, rather than the common misconception that WATER is a SECURITY issue.

He is thanked, on behalf of the gathering by Mr. Yanky Fachler, from the Holocaust Educational Trust (Ireland).

Deathtrap (@ The Helix) is full of Life!

Darcy McCarthy and Noel McGuinness join Michael FitzGerald on Northside2Day to discuss Ira Levin drama, Deathtrap, currently wowing audiences during its limited run at The Helix theatre in Dublin City University.

As a native Connecticut Yankee, Darcy explains why the play’s location, Connecticut, gave her a surreal sense of unreality, but continues to explain how this did not obstruct her enjoying the play’s (many) comedic moments. In a similar generosity of spirit, Noel remarked that even though the play ITSELF has a dated feel to it and that actions which may have shocked audiences in 1978, when Levin wrote it, this production plays homage to the age without needing to sacrifice its credibility, especially in relation to its set design.

The cast was collectively applauded, while Pierce Kavanagh’s direction was praised for its integrity and sure-handling of such challenging assignment.

The panel awarded this production 4 out of 5 STARS.
