<itunes:summary>Darcy McCarthy and Noel McGuinness join Michael FitzGerald on Northside2Day to discuss Ira Levin drama, Deathtrap, currently wowing audiences during its limited run at The Helix theatre in Dublin City University.

As a native Connecticut Yankee, Darcy explains why the play’s location, Connecticut, gave her a surreal sense of unreality, but continues to explain how this did not obstruct her enjoying the play’s (many) comedic moments. In a similar generosity of spirit, Noel remarked that even though the play ITSELF has a dated feel to it and that actions which may have shocked audiences in 1978, when Levin wrote it, this production plays homage to the age without needing to sacrifice its credibility, especially in relation to its set design.

The cast was collectively applauded, while Pierce Kavanagh’s direction was praised for its integrity and sure-handling of such challenging assignment.

The panel awarded this production 4 out of 5 STARS.</itunes:summary>
